There should be a paper label inside the guitar. This is where you find the serial, too. Some Ovations also have the serial on the neck block, but this is rare. By looking at the pictures - don't you have better pics?? - it looks like a MiC Ovation Celebrity CC24 to me. Joined: November 2005 Posts: 14 Location: Canada | Is there a database for Ovation Guitar Serial Numbers that I can just enter a Serial Number and it will tell me about the guitar? I had a link to one moons ago, but seemed to have lost it. Thanks in advance. Al ~ Tune In, Strum On ~

Anyone else heard of this???....I haven't. Roger

But moons ago I had a link to a site where I would type in the make, model and serial number of a guitar. It would tell me the where it was made, when it was made and a brief history of the guitar.

I see that the site isn't as bad as I feared...you have to have the make, model and serial number to get a history. That's different. I understood that the site would give you make and model FROM a serial number. THAT'S SCARY. And very open to use by eBay-using crooks. Roger

If a crooked ebayer wants to lie about the make and model there's nothing you can do. In fact, people do that already, selling guitars they don't have. So be scared now. Big deal.

Hmmm.....come to think of it, I think it was a Martin make that I looked at moons ago. I have an Ovation that I recently acquired that I would like to find the exact month/year it was made. Is there anyway I can find that out online? Simply out of curiousity really.

It gets a little more upsetting when they can add a legit serial number to it, though. The potential is there to cause problems for the legitimate owner of the instrument. You can find out the year, but no more, from the 'Cracking The Code' area on Ovation's website, or within the 'Reference' area within the OFC site. See where within the band of numbers for a year where your serial number is, you can make a fair guess as to what month it was manufactured. Roger |
